April Fool's - Year #6
April 25, 2010 - Phoenix AZ - It is hard to believe that I started doing the April Fool's web sites six (6) years ago. Since the premier of SPOTS there are now a total of Twenty-Three (23) sites that have come out of my imagination. I have come a long way with my creativity, color balance, image creation/manipulation and web site design since SPOTS.
2010 will be my 11th Playa Year - I cannot imagine my life without Burning Man and the year-round community that we have here in Arizona and the communities all over the globe that I have had the honor of interacting with.
Over the past six years I have learned that
most people are just unaware that it is April Fool's ala 04/01 and
that anything you might read on that day may be subject to a bit
more scrutiny. People read & react without really reading. You
might ask, do I think I am still fooling people? Have they not
caught on to the Scotto April Fool's legacy? The answer of
course is that even with 23 web sites over 6 years, people are still
gullible.
There was actually one additional web site, if you count the fire incident that was requested to be taken down because it went over the proverbial joke line...Fire, Death & Friends according to some, just not funny....
The line of funny to absurd - over the line to obnoxious does not exist at the moment of creation or imagination, that being before anyone other than the creator has seen it. Once others have the opportunity to view and filter what they have seen and comment on it, does it actually cross the border into Obscene and just plain wrong. I love this comment from 2007 when the Fire, Death & Friends web site was premiered .

concern: I don't know if you are responsible for the April Fool's Day "hoax" in which the death of three people, the personal injury of 19 others, and the arrest of another was cited, so I must maintain an objective approach here. I will only say that, if you are this person, please seek psychiatric help. Today. NOW. This person is sick and in immediate need of treatment and confinement, and under no circumstance should have access to a mass communication device of any kind, ever again. |
In the end I get a kick out of the Burning Man Parody thing, coming up with the domain names and the creative outlet that is web design. I hope you have enjoyed the 2010 sites as much as I did in creating them. Yes, you can count on another round of April Fool's web sites, ala Scotto in 2011.
